Good news for Berkeley

...and sad news for Ohio. Official rumor has it that Keith Johnson will be joining the Berkeley linguistics department in January of 2005. That means we'll be getting two amazing new faculty members this year: Line Mikkelsen this fall and Keith Johnson in the spring. It's almost enough to make me want to stick around Berkeley for a while ;-)

Is John McW. still there? And what happened to Andreas?

John McW has left Berkeley for greener pastures at the Mahattan Institute (and has achieved the true dream of [many] linguists: appearing regularly on television to discuss politics). As for Andreas, he is no longer at Berkeley, though I'm not sure where he is now. He was still associated with Berkeley as a researcher up until the end of July. He is both a great guy and a great teacher and I am upset that the department didn't hold onto him.
